Aguascalientes, Mexico, August 30 2024 – Prior to the celebration of the 15th anniversary of IBTM Americas, a platform where the masterminds behind events meet with leading industry suppliers to create experiences that transcend the conventional.
Last Tuesday, August 20, at 8:30 AM, within the facilities of the Fiesta Americana Viaducto Aeropuerto hotel in Mexico City, the congress began with the presence of leaders and presidents of the most important MICE segment associations in our country. They attended the celebration of the XIV National MPI Congress, an event that was resumed after five years thanks to the current president of MPI Mexico, Alfonso Ibarra, CEO of Wondrus Meeting Planner, along with the other two chapters.
In the first panel, the strategies of those who preside over the three Mexican chapters of the world’s most influential international association were presented: Salvador de Anda, Director of Meetings Tourism of the Aguascalientes State Convention and Visitors Bureau, President of the New Bajío Chapter; Alfonso Ibarra, CEO of Wondrus Meeting Planner, President of the Mexico Chapter; and Bernardo Santillana, Corporate Commercial Director of RCD Hotels, President of the Caribbean Chapter, who have been working as a team and have provided all the support to achieve the launch of the new chapter, which is now a reality.
The panel highlighted the sense of belonging within MPI Global and our country, adding a community of more than 12,000 members with different nationalities and languages, but with the same goal of working for the meetings industry through the three pillars: Member Training, Teamwork, and Networking.
It was communicated that the MPI Bajío Mexicano Chapter is the newest globally, with the idea of growing even more within a market eager to contribute and work as a team.
President Salvador de Anda thanked the founding members: Angélica Anguiano Pérez, Ricardo Sánchez Manzanares, and Juan Manuel Rendón López, who have worked as a team since the beginning of the project and have achieved great results in such a short time.
The panel concluded with words from the three presidents, Salvador de Anda, Alfonso Ibarra, and Bernardo Santillana: “We are three chapters, Mexico with 25 years of formation, the Caribbean with 5 years, and Bajío with 8 months. We are aiming for many more, representing a single country.” They announced the opening of nominations for the eighth edition of the Heel Awards 2024, an award that recognizes excellence in the Meetings Industry at the national level.
