Houston TX, December 21, 2025 — United Airlines operated its inaugural nonstop flight between Houston and Tepic, marking a new international connection to Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit and further expanding the region’s air access from North America.
The flight departed George Bush Intercontinental Airport with and arrived at Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport shortly before noon. The launch was marked by a promotional activation at the boarding gate, where passengers received destination information and branded items highlighting Nayarit’s tourism offerings.
Airport authorities, airline executives and state tourism officials took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally inaugurate the route. The activation is part of Nayarit’s ongoing “Fly to Nayarit, connect with Mexico” campaign, which will also include permanent destination banners inside the United Club lounge at the Houston airport.

The Houston–Tepic route operates once weekly on Saturdays. Flights depart Houston at 10:01 a.m., arriving in Tepic at 11:40 a.m. The return flight leaves Tepic at 12:50 p.m. and arrives in Houston at 4:10 p.m.
“With this new route, we are opening the door for more travelers from the United States to experience Nayarit’s cultural, natural and culinary diversity,” said Juan Enrique Suárez, Nayarit’s Minister of Tourism. “The Houston connection strengthens our international presence and reflects a coordinated effort with airline partners to make the state more accessible and competitive as a destination.”

The United Airlines service becomes the third international nonstop route added to Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport in 2025. The airport now offers direct international flights to Los Angeles with Volaris, Calgary with WestJet, and Houston with United Airlines.
Nayarit Tourism Ministry said the expanded air service supports the state’s broader strategy to attract international visitors and position Nayarit as a gateway to Mexico’s Pacific coast, including the Riviera Nayarit and surrounding inland destinations.
