NUEVO NAYARIT, Mexico (Sep. 15, 2025) — With new direct flights from Vancouver and Calgary launching this December into Riviera Nayarit International Airport (TPQ), the Mexican state of Nayarit is opening new doors for Canadian travelers seeking sun, surf, and culture along Mexico’s Pacific coast.
The expanded air service forms part of the “Fly to Nayarit – Connect with México” campaign, designed to showcase a destination where rugged mountains meet golden beaches, and where centuries-old traditions blend seamlessly with luxury hospitality.
“Nayarit offers a mosaic of experiences — from whale watching and golf to world-class resorts and nine Pueblos Mágicos,” said Juan Enrique Suarez del Real Tostado, Minister of Tourism of the State of Nayarit. “This new connectivity makes it easier than ever for Canadian travelers to immerse themselves in our culture, landscapes, and hospitality.”
Beaches and Beyond
Stretching nearly 200 miles along the Pacific, Riviera Nayarit’s coastline is a ribbon of sandy beaches framed by the Sierra Madre mountains. Surf towns like Sayulita and San Pancho, secluded coves in Punta Mita, and wildlife-rich estuaries in San Blas and Rincón de Guayabitos cater to every traveler, from sun-seekers to eco-adventurers. Winter is also prime season for snorkeling and diving, when water clarity peaks and marine life flourishes.
Outdoor Adventure
Nayarit’s diverse terrain is a playground for thrill-seekers. Visitors can zip-line through lush jungle canopies, hike to hidden waterfalls, surf secret breaks, or watch humpback whales breach offshore during the winter migration season.
Cultural Immersion
Nayarit leads Mexico in Pueblos Mágicos designations, with nine towns recognized for their heritage, gastronomy, and natural beauty. From the historic port of San Blas to the island village of Mexcaltitán — often called the “Venice of Mexico” — each offers a unique glimpse into the region’s living culture. Tepic, the state capital, buzzes with colorful markets, Huichol artistry, and traditional cuisine.
Resorts, Golf, and Wellness
Riviera Nayarit is home to some of Mexico’s most acclaimed luxury resorts, where tropical gardens and ocean views set the stage for indulgence. The region also boasts nine championship golf courses designed by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, and has become a hub for wellness retreats, yoga getaways, and world-class spas.
An Invitation to Explore
From pristine beaches and jungle adventures to cultural heritage and luxury hospitality, Nayarit promises travelers an unforgettable escape this winter. With direct flights from Vancouver and Calgary now offering seamless access, the destination is set to welcome more visitors than ever before.
