CALGARY, Alberta — The Nayarit Tourism Secretariat, in collaboration with WestJet and WestJet Vacations, hosted a comprehensive destination presentation Thursday, Nov. 13, aimed at strengthening ties with the Canadian travel trade and increasing awareness of Nayarit’s growing tourism offerings. The event highlighted the launch of WestJet’s new direct Calgary–Tepic/Riviera Nayarit route, set to begin operations in December.

More than 80 travel agents from major consortia, including Ensamble, Expedia and American Express, attended the presentation, which provided an in-depth overview of Nayarit’s diverse attractions, emerging travel products and signature experiences. Participants explored the region’s wide range of options—from cultural and historical sites to luxury accommodations, adventure tourism, gastronomy and nature-focused activities across its coastal and inland destinations.

During the event, representatives from Nayarit and WestJet shared details on the new flight’s schedule, connectivity advantages and the opportunities it creates for Western Canadian travelers seeking new destinations in Mexico. The route is expected to play a key role in expanding tourism flows to Tepic and the surrounding Riviera Nayarit region, offering visitors more convenient access and supporting local economic development.

The initiative forms part of the broader “Fly to Nayarit, Connect with Mexico” campaign, which aims to reinforce air connectivity and position Nayarit as a premier travel destination within the Canadian market. Through collaborations with industry partners such as WestJet, the campaign seeks to enhance visibility, strengthen commercial relationships and promote sustainable growth in the region’s tourism sector.

Nayarit officials emphasized the state’s commitment to strategic partnerships that facilitate easier travel, enrich visitor experiences and support the continued evolution of Nayarit as one of Mexico’s most dynamic destinations.
