Patagonia Camp Closes Season With 3RD Annual Patagonia Camp Cup

Property welcomes outdoor sports enthusiasts with Fun & Run events throughout the year

May 4, 2018, New York – With the start of the South American winter just over the horizon, Chile’s lakeside Patagonia Camp “glamping” resort is preparing to close a successful season with its 3rd annual Patagonia Camp Cup, scheduled to kick off this May 12 at 6:30 a.m. Part of the property’s Fun & Run program, the cup takes participants along the trails of the camp’s private reserve with 15K, 25K and 42 K runs.

Patagonia Camp’s Fun & Run program embraces the region’s popularity as an outdoor sports- and nature-lover destination and welcomes guests to enjoy the property’s distinctive offerings while embarking excursions in either neighboring Torres del Paine National Park or within the camp itself, in exclusive activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking or stand-up paddling (SUP). Majestic Torres del Paine National Park and Patagonia Camp are located in Chile’s extreme south, the so-called Magellan and Antarctic Region.

Runners, their families and other property patrons can enjoy the autumnal tones of Patagonia’s tranquil fall landscape and connect with nature while running, or just walking, among colorful native trees, snowy mountain ranges, blue-and-turquoise lakes and the impressive Paine massif. An award ceremony at the event’s closure will feature a true Patagonian-style celebration, with a lamb BBQ, Matetic organic wines and local craft beers — all to the tune of the best electronic music by a live DJ.

Patagonia Camp takes part in numerous regular outdoor sporting events in the Torres del Paine region. Its location along the route or at the starting point of many established events has often resulted in participants making the camp their base while competing. This year, two of the most important events will be the seventh edition of Patagonian International Marathon (www.patagonianinternationalmarathon.com/about/), on September 8, and the fifth edition of the Ultra Trail Torres del Paine (www.ultrapaine.com), scheduled for September 22.

Guests participating in the Patagonia Camp Cup can take advantage of a special package that includes transfers from and to Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales or Cancha Carrera; accommodation in a double or single “yurt,” or Mongolian-style tent; full board and open bar on site; and entrance to the award ceremony and celebration; runner’s kit; and entrance fee to the park with excursions led by bilingual guides. Runners can also take advantage of on-premises special physical therapy professionals.

It is an innovative and original project designed and built to offer a unique and intimate nature experience under the “glamping” concept in one of the world most remote destinations: Chile’s famed Torres del Paine. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Patagonia Camp comprises 20 fully equipped Mongolian style tents, or yurts, located on the shore of Toro Lake. The hotel is surrounded by local native “coihue” forest, transparent water lakes and lagoons. Local fauna such as condor and foxes can be found near the hotel, as well. Visit www.patagoniacamp.com
