The Puerto Vallarta Open Is The Best Challenger Of The Year According To The Association Of Professional Tennis

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Jan 2, 2019 – Puerto Vallarta continues to reaffirm its position as a premiere sporting events destination as the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) names the Puerto Vallarta Open the best challenger of the year for the second year in a row because of its “quality in the organization and the attractions of the headquarters.”

Through social media, the ATP announced that the tournament held in Puerto Vallarta from April 29 to May 05, 2019, met the highest quality standards set by the ATP and participants had voted the event as the best contest of the year. The challenger took place in Puerto Vallarta’s Parota park in the Hotel Zone and included an exclusive event on the city’s Malecon, participants we also invited to partake in tourism tours around the destination and mixers with local and international guests.

Forty-three players participated in the second Puerto Vallarta Open, which offered the largest prize pool for challenger tournaments in the world with $135,000 USD – in addition to lodging and meals – plus ATP world ranking points.

The tournament organizers found that Puerto Vallarta is an ideal destination for sports competitions and sports tourism because of its splendid climate and varied outdoors settings, including water, mountain and air as well as the quality of the facilities and services necessary to hold a tournament of this magnitude. Puerto Vallarta’s top-notch tourism services and offerings are a plus, but organizers said the main value remains the hospitality of its people.

“It is an honor and a responsibility to be considered one of the best challenger tournaments in the ATP, the best in Latin America, in fact; We hope to continue coordination with different companies and agencies to maintain that quality, and that this tournament continues to grow for the benefit of this wonderful destination,” said PV Open director Francisco Javier Romero González.

Austrian player Sebastian Ofner won the 2019 Puerto Vallarta Open tournament and praised the tournament’s organizers and Puerto Vallarta’s hospitality.

Puerto Vallarta shares the recognition as one of the best challenger tournaments with events held in Braunschweig and Heilibronn, Germany and Szczecin, Poland.
