Destination highlights adventure, outdoor, cultural and community-based tourism while exploring new opportunities with tour operators, travel advisors and media

NAYARIT, Mexico — September 16, 2026 — Nayarit strengthened its outreach to the North American adventure travel market through its participation in an Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) industry gathering, meeting one-on-one with tour operators, travel advisors, media and other professionals specializing in adventure and outdoor travel.
The meetings provided an opportunity to introduce the trade to a broader side of Nayarit — one that extends beyond the Pacific coastline and the resorts of Riviera Nayarit into the state’s mountains, historic towns, Indigenous communities and rural landscapes.
Discussions highlighted opportunities for hiking and other outdoor pursuits, nature and wildlife experiences, as well as visits to Nayarit’s Pueblos Mágicos and experiences centered on local gastronomy and regional products. The destination also presented opportunities for travelers to engage more deeply with local communities and learn about Wixárika culture and traditions through thoughtfully developed cultural experiences.
Nayarit’s participation reflects the destination’s continued effort to diversify its tourism offering and connect specialized travel sellers with experiences that combine adventure with culture, nature and community.
For tour operators and travel advisors, the meetings focused on how these experiences can complement Nayarit’s established coastal product, creating itineraries that encourage travelers to explore different regions of the state and discover experiences beyond traditional resort stays.
The ATTA gathering also served as a platform to begin conversations about bringing adventure and outdoor travel buyers into Gala Nayarit–Puerto Vallarta 2027, the region’s annual travel trade event. Discussions explored the potential participation of specialized buyers as well as pre-Gala FAM trips designed specifically for tour operators and advisors working in the adventure, cultural and community tourism segments.
These proposed familiarization programs would give participants firsthand exposure to Nayarit’s tourism product before entering their scheduled business meetings at Gala, helping travel sellers better understand how individual experiences, communities and regions can be incorporated into future itineraries and programs.
Through its engagement with the adventure travel community, Nayarit continues to position itself as a multidimensional Mexican destination where the Pacific coast can serve as the starting point for journeys into nature, culture, gastronomy and local communities.
