A growing collection of high-end hotels, destination dining, wine and cultural experiences — combined with expanding air access — gives travel advisors new ways to sell one of Mexico’s most sophisticated destinations.

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, August 17, 2026 — Luxury travel in Nayarit is no longer defined by a single resort or stretch of coastline.
Across Mexico’s Pacific coast state, a new generation of high-end hotels and restaurants is being complemented by private villas, championship golf, wellness, yachting, Indigenous and community-based experiences, a developing wine region and nine Pueblos Mágicos. At the same time, expanded air connectivity is creating another international gateway to the destination.
For travel advisors and tour operators, the combination creates an opportunity to sell Nayarit as more than a traditional fly-and-flop beach vacation. It can be packaged as a multidimensional luxury journey — one that pairs Riviera Nayarit’s established resort infrastructure with gastronomy, culture and experiences farther inland. Nayarit’s tourism strategy increasingly emphasizes quality and exclusivity rather than volume, supported by a hotel portfolio that includes properties recognized by Forbes, AAA and Michelin.

A luxury hotel corridor that keeps growing
Riviera Nayarit has developed one of the most concentrated collections of high-end hospitality brands on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Punta Mita remains an anchor of the destination’s luxury offering, with Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita and The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, alongside private villas, residences, golf, beach clubs and yacht experiences that have helped make the gated community a familiar product for luxury advisors.
Moving north, One&Only Mandarina introduced a different expression of Nayarit luxury, combining dramatic architecture, jungle, beach, wellness and privacy within the Mandarina development.
The area’s hospitality landscape has expanded further with Rosewood Mandarina, which opened in 2025 and was subsequently named to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Hot List. The property combines contemporary luxury with the surrounding jungle and Pacific coastline while emphasizing a connection to local culture.
Nearby, Siari, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, adds another globally recognized luxury flag to the state, while established properties including Susurros del Corazón, Auberge Resorts Collection, Conrad Punta de Mita and W Punta de Mita provide advisors with options across different styles of high-end travel.
The pipeline continues to expand, including the arrival of Montage and Pendry Punta Mita, adding further depth to an already competitive luxury hotel landscape.
For advisors, that variety makes Nayarit particularly versatile. The destination can accommodate multigenerational families, couples, wellness travelers, golfers, groups of friends, villa clients and travelers seeking highly personalized resort experiences.

The restaurant reservation is becoming part of the itinerary
Nayarit’s culinary scene has become an increasingly important component of its luxury travel offering, giving advisors another reason to encourage clients to explore beyond their resort.
Pacific seafood, tropical produce and ingredients from agricultural communities throughout the state provide the foundation, while established and emerging chefs are transforming those products into contemporary expressions of Mexican cuisine.
Among the newest additions is La Casa by Thierry Blouet in Bucerías, led by chef Vanessa Blouet. The restaurant combines the culinary legacy of her father, chef Thierry Blouet, with a new generation’s perspective, using organic ingredients in a menu that balances contemporary dishes with reinvented classics. Food & Wine en Español named Vanessa Blouet one of its Best New Chefs 2026, placing both the chef and Nayarit among the emerging talents shaping the future of Mexican gastronomy.
The recognition adds another dimension to a family already deeply associated with the region’s dining scene. Thierry Blouet is also behind Tuna Blanca in Punta de Mita, an established fine-dining address that has helped define the area’s culinary identity. In 2026, Thierry, Rosé and Vanessa Blouet were collectively recognized as Gastronomic Family of the Year by Culinaria Mexicana.
Elsewhere along the coast, Carao at One&Only Mandarina brings the culinary vision of acclaimed Mexican chef Enrique Olvera to Riviera Nayarit, while Rubra in Punta de Mita showcases chef Daniela Soto-Innes’ interpretation of Mexican ingredients and the surrounding landscape. Restaurants such as Héctor’s Kitchen further broaden the independent dining scene.

An unexpected wine experience in the mountains
A luxury itinerary can also extend beyond the coast.
Approximately 90 minutes from Tepic, the Pueblo Mágico of Jala introduces travelers to an unexpected side of Nayarit: wine country.
Set in the mountains near the Ceboruco volcano, Meseta del Cielo is Nayarit’s first vineyard. Since 2019, the property has successfully cultivated European varieties including Syrah and Macabeo. Its wines have earned national recognition, including appearances among Cava magazine’s Top 99 Mexican Wines.
Visitors can tour the vineyard, learn about production and participate in tastings and pairings, with views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
For travel advisors, the vineyard opens possibilities for pairing a coastal resort stay with a culinary and cultural extension into Nayarit’s interior — creating a more complete sense of place for repeat Mexico visitors looking for something new.
A Jala itinerary can also include local contemporary cuisine, artisan workshops, the historic center, religious architecture and experiences tied to the region’s distinctive heirloom corn.

Luxury with a cultural connection
The evolution of Nayarit’s high-end tourism product is also being shaped by travelers who increasingly equate luxury with access and authenticity.
Beyond private pools and butler service, the state can offer encounters with artisans, traditional cooks, archaeological sites and communities whose traditions provide a deeper understanding of western Mexico.
Nayarit is home to nine Pueblos Mágicos — the most of any state in Mexico — spanning the surf culture of Sayulita, the colonial heritage of Compostela, volcanic landscapes around Jala, the island community of Mexcaltitán, historic San Blas, Ixtlán del Río, Ahuacatlán, Amatlán de Cañas and Puerto Balleto in the Islas Marías.
For culturally focused clients, itineraries can incorporate the pre-Hispanic heritage of Los Toriles, the historic port of San Blas, coffee and artisanal wine routes in southern Nayarit or community-based experiences connected to the state’s Indigenous heritage.
The Wixárika Route, for example, was ranked among Mexico’s top cultural routes at the 2026 Best of Mexico awards, while Punta Mita was recognized for luxury and wellness experiences.
The two experiences illustrate an important advantage for advisors selling Nayarit: high-end hospitality and cultural immersion do not have to be separate trips.

Private villas expand the luxury portfolio
Nayarit’s high-end accommodations extend well beyond traditional hotels. Punta Mita’s private villa and residential market gives travel advisors another way to serve affluent clients, particularly multigenerational families, groups of friends and travelers looking for privacy without sacrificing resort-level service.
Among the destination’s standout options is Casa Koko, an oceanfront private villa in Punta Mita’s exclusive La Punta Estates. The nine-bedroom property accommodates up to 20 guests and combines the privacy of a residence with a full staff and amenities that include an infinity pool, private gym and in-villa spa experiences. Its location overlooks the Pacific and Marietas Islands National Park and sits directly in front of one of Punta Mita’s surf breaks.
The experience is particularly well suited to the growing demand for private, multigenerational and celebration travel. Guests can pair days at the villa with golf, surfing, boating and wellness experiences, while private dining and sommelier-led wine pairings allow the culinary experience to come directly to them.
Casa Koko has also expanded with Casa Koko Iyari, an eight-bedroom oceanfront villa in Punta Mita’s Kupuri Estates that accommodates up to 18 guests. The property offers a full staff, beach access, spa experiences, a private gym, cinema and game room, further illustrating the sophistication of Nayarit’s growing villa product.
For luxury travel advisors, villas add an important layer to Nayarit’s accommodations portfolio. A client can choose the amenities and infrastructure of an internationally recognized resort or opt for the privacy, personalization and residential feel of a fully staffed villa — while remaining within the same luxury destination.
Two gateways to Riviera Nayarit
Perhaps the most significant development for the travel trade is improved access.
Puerto Vallarta International Airport remains an important gateway to the southern Riviera Nayarit resort corridor, giving advisors access to extensive domestic and international air service and an established ground transportation network.
But travelers now have another option: Riviera Nayarit International Airport (TPQ).
The expanded airport is being developed as an international gateway capable of providing direct access to Tepic and the broader state, complementing Puerto Vallarta and creating new itinerary possibilities for travelers heading to Riviera Nayarit and Nayarit’s interior. The state’s tourism strategy specifically identifies improved international connectivity from the United States and Canada as a major factor in Nayarit’s growth.
International service from markets including Los Angeles, Calgary, Vancouver and Houston gives the trade another way to route clients into the state, particularly for itineraries combining the coast with Tepic, San Blas, Jala and other cultural destinations.
For advisors, the second gateway also makes open-jaw itineraries increasingly compelling: clients can arrive through one airport, explore different areas of the state and depart through another rather than retracing the same route.

A different proposition for the luxury client
Nayarit’s strength for the travel trade ultimately lies in its ability to layer experiences.
A client can begin with several nights at a beachfront resort, spend a morning on a private boat, play golf or book a wellness experience, dine at a chef-driven restaurant and then travel inland for a vineyard tasting or cultural experience.
The same trip can incorporate the galleries and surfing culture of Sayulita, the sophisticated resort communities of Punta Mita and Mandarina, Indigenous art, Pacific seafood, a mountain vineyard and one of the state’s nine Pueblos Mágicos.
That breadth is particularly relevant as experienced luxury travelers look beyond accommodations alone and increasingly seek destinations capable of delivering privacy and service without sacrificing a connection to local culture.
For the travel trade, Nayarit’s proposition is becoming increasingly clear: sell the resort, but also sell the state.
The result is a luxury Mexico itinerary that can be as much about discovery as indulgence — supported by the hotels, restaurants, transportation infrastructure and high-touch experiences to make both possible.
