Nayarit Unveils Major Progress on Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport and New Airport Express Service

Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico (June 29, 2026) — The Mexican state of Nayarit has reached a significant milestone in its aviation infrastructure strategy with the presentation of construction progress on the Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport, alongside the official introduction of NUA Exprés, a dedicated ground transportation system designed to seamlessly connect the airport with the Riviera Nayarit tourism corridor.

The announcements were made during a meeting with tourism, aviation, and business leaders hosted by Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, joined by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and Javier García Bejos, representative of Aeropuertos Mexicanos.

The event brought together representatives from airlines, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, chambers of commerce, and tourism associations to review the project’s progress and its anticipated impact on regional mobility, tourism, investment, and economic development.

Designed to accommodate future passenger growth, the new Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport will have the capacity to serve up to four million passengers annually, significantly expanding air access to one of Mexico’s fastest-growing tourism and investment destinations.

The airport is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening domestic and international connectivity while supporting new airline opportunities, increased visitor arrivals, cargo potential, and broader economic development throughout western Mexico.

“Projects such as the Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport represent a long-term vision for economic growth and regional competitiveness,” said Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero. “This investment will create new opportunities for our communities while positioning Nayarit as an increasingly important gateway to Mexico’s Pacific Coast.”

As part of the state’s integrated mobility strategy, officials also introduced NUA Exprés, a new airport ground transportation service that will provide efficient, comfortable, and reliable connections between the airport and Riviera Nayarit’s principal tourism destinations.

The dedicated express service is designed to streamline the passenger journey from arrival to final destination, reducing transfer times while improving accessibility to the region’s hotel zones, beach communities, and tourism developments.

The combination of expanded aviation infrastructure and coordinated ground transportation reflects Nayarit’s broader strategy to create a seamless travel experience while supporting sustainable tourism growth and regional accessibility.

Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, emphasized that strengthening air connectivity remains a national priority for increasing international visitation and diversifying Mexico’s tourism economy.

The Tepic–Riviera Nayarit International Airport represents one of the most significant infrastructure investments in the state’s history, supporting continued growth across tourism, hospitality, commerce, and logistics while reinforcing Nayarit’s position as an emerging aviation gateway on Mexico’s Pacific Coast.

As construction progresses, the project is expected to enhance the state’s competitiveness in attracting new air service, international investment, and business development while providing travelers with improved access to the region’s expanding portfolio of luxury resorts, cultural destinations, and outdoor experiences.
